The UK range is the Serenity Comfort, the Super Comfort and two Hybrid models. Both Hybrids are filled with polyester hollowfibre inside a latex outer layer, so despite the name only two of the four have a latex core.

This is not a hatchet job. There are good reasons the brand has been in this category for decades, and if any of the four below is what matters most to you, it is the right buy.

The process is named after them.

Dunlop is the curing method the company industrialised, and it is still the benchmark for a moulded latex core. Buy any moulded natural latex pillow, ours included, and you are buying that method.

The latex models are real latex.

Every retailer listing we checked describes the Serenity Comfort and Super Comfort as 100% natural latex with an open-cell structure. No blends, no shredded offcuts, no mystery fill.

Washable covers and a three-year guarantee.

Both latex models ship with a removable, machine-washable cover and a three-year manufacturer's guarantee. That is a proper warranty on a pillow, and most brands do not offer one.

You can try one in a shop.

Bensons for Beds and Harvey Norman carry them in store, so you can put your head on one before you commit. We cannot offer that, which is why ours comes with a 100-night trial instead. See our latex pillows.

What “Dunlop” actually means

Dunlop is a curing process, not a brand and not a material. Liquid latex is whipped, poured into a mould and baked in one go. The heavier particles settle as it cures, so a Dunlop core is denser at the bottom than the top and firmer overall. It is the older of the two methods, it wastes less, and it makes a pillow that holds its shape for years. Our Dunlop Medium Support comes out of exactly that process, and we say so on the product page.

What Talalay changes

Talalay adds two steps. The mould is only part-filled, then vacuum-sealed so the latex expands to fill it, then flash-frozen before baking. The freeze locks the cell structure in place before gravity can sort it, so the result is even top to bottom, lighter, springier and more open-celled. It costs more to make, which is why Talalay pillows sit higher up almost every brand's range. Ours is the Talalay Medium Soft.

Which one you actually want, and why we cannot tell you what a Dunlopillo is

Firmer, denser and more supportive under a heavier head, and the better bet for back and front sleepers: Dunlop. Softer and more open, with more give under the shoulder: Talalay, usually the one side sleepers get on with. Neither is better in the abstract. The only real mistake is buying one while expecting the other.

Here is the awkward part. Dunlopillo do not publish which process their pillows use, and neither does any UK stockist we checked, so we genuinely cannot tell you which one yours is. What we can do is name ours: Dunlop Medium Support for firm, Talalay Medium Soft for soft, and a contoured orthopaedic shape for side sleepers. If you are shopping by neck pain or by firmness, start there instead.

Check the profile height against yours before switching, because that is where the two ranges differ most.

Worth knowing what you actually own: despite sitting in a latex brand's range, the Hybrid Side Sleeper is filled with polyester hollowfibre inside a latex outer layer, not a latex core. None of those three appear on UK retailer listings now. Serenity Deluxe seems to have been folded into the Serenity Comfort, and Signature and Luxurious Latex return Australian listings, where Dunlopillo is a separate licensee with a different range. Why we are not a Dunlopillo reseller

Not Swiss Cheese was started by Gurveer Sabharwal after a cheap student mattress wrecked his back and neck. His dad pointed him at natural latex, the same resilient material used in aircraft, race cars and medical cushioning since the early 1900s. Within weeks the pain eased.

We could have become a retailer for one of the established latex brands. We make our own instead, because the retail markup on a latex pillow is most of what you pay for it, and because we would rather answer for the material ourselves. That is also why we name the curing process on every product page, and why we will tell you when we cannot answer a question about someone else's. The same thinking runs through our latex mattress toppers.

Standard 60x40cm, Queen 70x40cm and King 80x40cm: British sizes, made to fit British pillowcases. Sizes on the Dunlopillo listings we read were given as one size per model.

Can I try one and send it back?

Yes. Every pillow comes with a 100-night trial and free UK delivery. Latex takes a week or two to get used to if you are coming off memory foam, so give it that before you decide. For comparison, the Bensons listings carry a 40-night comfort guarantee.
